Helping Hands of St. Marguerite was founded to meet the needs of those requiring additional personal care and companion services in their homes or at their home within an assisted living residence.

Services may be provided for a few hours at a time, or 24-hours per day. A nurse in collaboration with the client, and client family as needed, will develop and oversee an individual service plan for each client served. A trained, screened, certified nursing assistant (Helping Hand) will be introduced to the individual and the family. A wide range of services are available:

Personal Care (Certified Nursing Assistants)

  • Assistance with personal care including shower, bath, hair care, oral hygiene, skin and foot care
  • Assistance with dressing and/or selection of clothes
  • Assistance with preparation for bed
  • Assistance with reminders to take medications
  • Assistance with walking
  • Assistance with food preparation and eating. May assist in preparation of upcoming meals, food shopping and checking food expiration dates

Companion Services

  • Provide supportive relationship and a safer environment for someone with Alzheimer’s Disease or a related dementia
  • Provide Respite Care for families / caregivers
  • Assist with activities to enrich the client’s day, including general companionship, assistance with reading or outdoor activities such as walks
  • Assist with daily routine such as meals and meal prep, communication with family and other daily activities
  • Arrange for appointments and other personal needs
  • Escort to appointments such as doctor’s visits, hair appointments and other religious or social activities
  • Other errands as needed for personal necessities such as gift buying and personal supplies

Homemaking Services

  • Assistance with housekeeping tasks, including changing linens, making bed, light vacuuming, dusting, cleaning or tidying living accommodations, taking out the trash
  • Grocery shopping, picking up prescriptions, or assistance with pets
  • Assistance with laundry and ironing, or help with arrangements for dry cleaning

Other Services

  • May arrange for home repairs and accommodations
  • May arrange for durable medical equipment to be sent to client’s home
